Mike's Peugeot 205 GTI MI16
This car was originally owned by our brother Chris, who purchased the car in July 2006. Immediately after buying the car, Chris removed the 8 valve engine to rebuild it, however plans soon canged to an MI16 conversion.
The 8 Valve engine was a very healthy lump, and soon found its way into a customers rally car. With the engine out of the way, Chris turned his attention to tidying up the cars engine bay. The few areas of surface rust were treated and the engine bay resprayed. The front crossmember was stripped and repainted, as were all of the various mounting and fixing brackets, a quickshift gear selector fitted and the wiring looms were stripped, inspected and repaired where neccesary before being re sleeved and insulated.
With a nice fresh engine bay, attention was turned to Chris's newly acquired alloy blocked MI16 lump. It came with a large stash of reciepts, but was stripped and rebuilt as a precaution. In went a whole host of new parts including a Group N oil pump, new big end bearings, new gaskets throughout, new cam seals, sump gasket, alloy finned sump and even a Genuine, brand new, full Peugeot cambelt cover. The rocker cover became a labour of love, which in the end took a ridiculous amount of time to perfect. The finish is gloss black with a faint crinckle effect. The lettering was cut back in and polished.
Soon after, the MI had found its new home.
Now the engine had to be wired and plumbed in. This can be seen on Page Two.

The list of new parts now fitted to the car was beginning to mount. It includes,
Brakes: Brand new brake master cylinder with new copper brake lines and goodrdge braided brake hoses. New discs and pads all round. Running Dot 5.1 race fluid.
Suspension: Eibach progressive front springs lowered by 30mm, rebuilt rear suspension beam axle - ride height set to suit. Front crossmember stripped and repainted and fitted with quickshift gear selector.
Cooling: Brand new nissens aluminium radiator, full set of Samco silicone coolant hoses. New metal coolant pipes on drivers side inner wing, new coolant temp sensors.
Engine: Rebuilt Mi16 with brand new mi16 clutch, new clutch cable, new accelerator cable, new fuel filter and new braided fuel hose. Re-angled exhaust manifold with new exhaust studs, shortened inlet manifold, ported and polished throttle body with K&N air induction kit. New Genuine peugeot cambelt covers and high pressure oil pump. Mocal 13 row oil cooler with thermostatic sandwich plate.
Electrics: Engine is running the full mi16 motronic engine management, the wiring loom has been stripped and re-sleeved and insulated.
