Ken's 1971 VW Baywindow CamperVan.
Having been off the road for the past few years, Kens Bay window campervan was in need of a lot of both mechanical and structural repairs to finally get it through its MOT. Heres a list of some of the work carried out, with pictures over the next few pages.
Bodywork and Chassis.

Fit new 'cab' floors both sides. |

Fit new cab steps both sides. |

Fit new seatbelt mounting points both sides. |

Fit new inner and outer sills both sides. |

Fit new chassis 'outriggers' x 4 |

Repair Rotten chassis legs at front of van. |

Make other repairs as neccesary.

Remove front suspension beam and weld as neccesary. |

Fit four new suspension ball joints. |

Fit new steering tie rods/arms and new steering idler pin assembly. |

Replace all brake lines, re adjust all brakes. |

Full Service and set up, including all new fuel lines, filters etc. |
Suspension and Mechanical.
Pictures showing the worn suspension balljoints - notoriously difficult to replace. Stripped front beam after welding, cargo bay floor, cab step, and then 3 shots of cargo floor sections.

Both seatbelt mounting points were extensively rotten, and had been dangerously 'repaired' using just bodyfiller:
