Ricks Volkswagen Golf Gti Mk2 16Valve
Ricks latest project is this 1991 spec Golf Gti Mk2 16 Valve. Bored of fixing rotten vehicles, Rick dragged this rather bent VW from a Norfolkshire ditch. The previous owner had spent thousands on the golf, before falling asleep at the wheel on his way home from work.

The car had suffered a fairly heavy frontal impact which had rendered the front end panels beyond repair. The drivers door and passenger side rear quarter panel had also all suffered damage. However, finding late spec 3 door 16v mk2 golfs is a difficult prospect these days. And this car had very low mileage and reciepts for engine overhauls, which suggested that repair would be worthwhile.
With some new panels loosely attached, the car soon began to look Golf shaped again. After final panel alignment, it was ready to be prepped for paint.
At this point, when trying to order the paint for the car, Rick stumbled upon a nice surprise. The car is a very rare factory colour called blueschwartz. Were not sure exactly how rare it is, but lets just say that the VW owners club forums didnt know it existed, and neither did our paint suppliers!
A very difficult colour to photograph, the car appears to change between light and dark grey, metallic black and dark green depending on the angle of the light.  With a new 15inch wheel ready to be fitted (to replace the 14' on the offside rear) and new tyres, the car should hit the road in June 2008. (So long as rick remembers to attach the side repeaters for its MOT)!!!
