Peter Freeman's Peugeot 205 GTI Mi16
Peters sorrento green 205 Gti came to us already boasting a very impressive spec. The car had already been converted to run an early Mi16 engine and gearbox, big 307 Hdi front brakes and 309 GTI front suspension arms, driveshafts and rear beam (which give the car a wider track).
The only thing left to do to the car was a respray. As you can see, the car had been previously repainted rather poorly and as a result, a lot of the paintwork was beginning to flake off around the sunroof and windows. The lacquer also had a very strange mottled effect which looked like water marks in the paint. You can see in the last photo that the bodykit had been masked over, rather than removed last time the car was painted.
Peter had removed the bodykit, bumpers front and rear valances and seats from the car which saved us a great deal of time, allowing us to get started prepping the car much sooner.

All of the poor quality paint that had been previously applied had to be removed. We removed all of the windows and the doors and bonnet. This made it a lot easier to paint the 'backs' of the panels and door and bootlid shut areas seen above.
Once were happy with the shell it was painted with its basecoat and then lacquered.
At this point Peter took the car back for a fornight so that he could refit the bodykit, badges and bumpers himself. Peter had also had the alloy wheels powder coated and his half leather interior re-trimmed. We were looking forward to seeing the car back in one piece, and the pictures can be seen on the next page.
